Across all Ages Home
Where Nothing could be Lost
by Joseph J. Biernacki
Was there a precious thing you lost and found again when and where quite least expected?
I had been searching for it
for years
Until my hope was lost
Until my fractured heart
Was vacant and despondent
It was irreplaceable
And priceless in my eyes
I treated it with care
And respected its vocation
I honored provenance
It came with precious oils
From the hands that
Fed and kept me safe
I was trusted with its future
When time was short of grace
It was obsolete at best
Yet a source of constant pride
Then it simply vanished
I cannot say quite when, I cannot
Say quite how
But once the loss discovered
I searched the drawers and halls
And then when least expected
It appeared
Where nothing else was present
Where search came up devoid
Where nothing could be lost
